The Hanuman langurs have been part of the Jungle Palace in Hanover Zoo since 1997. The exhibit aims at providing behavioural enrichment for the animals, but also at achieving close proximity for the visitors. The Hanuman langurs with their black faces are sacred in India, and are regularly seen inhabiting temples. In Hanover Zoo, too, the Hanuman langurs have reconquered the former state apartments of the maharajah.
The exhibit is part of the Jungle Palace in Hanover Zoo. The visitor area here is a grand inner courtyard between the Indian elephant enclosure, the palace building and the langur exhibit.
