Wired-covered walkways had to be erected to protect human visitors as the macaques defend the territorial limits of their tribe. The walkways are 2,2 m high, and 2,4 to 3 m wide, constructed of creosote treated wooden poles covered with 2x12 cm welded mesh of 14-gauge wire. Along the lower 70 cm an additional 12x12 mm hardware cloth mesh prevents children from poking their fingers through to the monkeys.
