I have to be honest, and say this hurt's real bad.

Before anybody starts rattling their sabers at the heading of this post, allow me the courtesy to explain. For somebody coming up in the era of Holtzmeir and Gebel opening two halves of of a show with 18 to 22 animals each, and the great Baumann and Botcher doing the same on another unit, McMillian with 22, and Hawthorn with 17, Chipperfield with his large numbers, this is justifiably heart breaking. Then came the era of not knowing what you were going to see, 10, 12, 15, 9 depending on atmospheric conditions. This is better, and by today's standards with the skill of Stuppmeir and the obvious quality animals of Flavio Togni is a beautful presentation. It gives me hope there may be a future, and who knows
maybe a restoration of the past. At least it is not a dusty, dirty piece of nonsense, to give somebody a job, and that speaks volumes for what should be called "Cirque."
