Fredy Knies Living Carousel

This is just spectacular, and I would so love to see more like this.
On a smaller scale, but no less grand was the Carousel that Dianne Olds Rossi did with her Lipizzan Roman on long lines with the revolving over
head Carousel, built by Johnny Zoppe for the Dancing Horse Theater. With the music
combined with lights, bubble effects, presentation, and the skill of Dianne horse, it was the most
beautiful single horse presentation I have personally witnessed.

It's things like this that encourage me to sit far back from the ring so that the patterns are clearer. This act I have seen at Theater Carre in Amsterdam, looking down from the gallery seats.

John,
I agreed 100%. I have never enjoyed the sitting close format in the round tent particularly with animal acts. It is probably just my history of coliseums which makes it difficult for me, but I think the "right in front" seating only works well at a gentlemans club.

In 1925-30 Jorgen Cristiansen put together 70 plus animals in a wedding cake carosel with ponies running the bring curb and camels, plus horses going various directions, with him mounted at the very top directing it all. In closing days at the "Garden" John Ringling told him that boss prop man, Mickey Graves, did not want to have to troupe all the oak plkank that made up the cake ande that he would like for him to present the twenty four liberty act on the road with two twelves in each end ring and six horses on each stage, one of them presented by Mabel Stark. Some model builder did a model of this carosel from a photo and it has gotten lost in the shuffle.

The great Ringling trainer, John O'Brian did a wedding cake carosel for Ringling in the early ninteen hundreds of sixty one horses for Ringling and their Forepauygh circus as well and was continued on by Daniel [Denny] Curtis using on the ver top The beautiful Palomino 'Silver King". Also Rudy Rudynoff did a similar carosel on Ringling in the thirties that for one season featured Dorothy Herbert on top.

John,
I have a wood cut print of a carousel. I have always wondered, how did they get them up high, and how long did it take to get them all in the ring. Were they brought in all at once, or in groups.
