Bloody hell Wade - where was that top photo taken?
Even on a backblocks show here in the middle of winter I don't thick of seen worse presented ponies.

I think one of the most harmful things to our profession, is that it runs from this to the most beautiful, in all countries, and the whole industry gets stereotyped. One of the major reasons for the forming of AZA and setting a standard for what Zoo's can be accepted, Bob's Bear Zoo and Trading Post need not apply.

So when is the US circus industry going to form a circus specific Association and develop it's own set of Standards?
And where was that top photo taken? Don't identify the show if you'd rather not, but - in what country????

It will never happen. My belief is there are too many "family/good old boy ties to ever get an agreed upon standard for anything. How really deep down successful is any circus union/joint forming, to start with?

The country is Italy. Europe as far as I know, with the boundaries so muddied in an effort to have an "acceptable" style. It is kinda like the "we don't hit them with the whip" and "they are like my children/family" syndrome. That can be said, printed, and stated so much that you actually think they are over defensive and lying.

Reminds me of the time an American individual got his ponies confiscated. I saw that particular group of ponies, poor things were indeed a wreck. The excuse given was that many were very old - which was true, but what the hell was he doing dragging those coat racks around the country and presenting them in front of an audience. Of course, everyone in the business took his side, and not one person that I ever spoke to shared my opinion that he wasn't a victim of the humane society officers.

I shared your opinion, but was chastised for not sticking together and being with it and for it. I am for top quality stock, handled/housed the best. I can't be much more with it, and for it then that.

Blow up the picture of the larger horses, that is not good stock. If we look at the obvious we may forget the public looks past that.

Wade, The bigger group may not be competition quality, but at least they appear well fed, with good muscle tone, unlike the ratty pair above.

"Good muscle tone?" Look at odd developed neck muscles, caused by a poor conformed horse being over checked.
