A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Wade, thank you. This horse is really beautiful.

This is what I'm ordering from Fire Magic and his wife but OK if gold, buckskin, chestnut with white etc, etc, etc
Dianne, I'm sure that whatever Fire Magic and Paloma produce will be beautiful. They are such beautiful horses, and I wish you the best.

Mary Ann,
A bit of trivia. The first "cossack riders" in this country, were on Ringling in 1992 with myself.
They used Akhal-Teke horses of which one was "champagne". It was a beautiful horse, which was only used in the act for a female cossack rider to "charm" with kindness and love, as people suck that stuff up. Kahdir Khan the leader/owner of the horses, who became a dear friend called it "piss white" in Russian/Khazak. Ringling staff, prop crew, publicity department, etc. referred to it as the "white horse."
The act needed new horses, as some they brought here were aged, and Kahdir asked me about American Quarter horses of which he was not familiar with. I took him to a couple of farms in the area to look at Quarter horses, and on one farm was a Cremelo, not Champagne horse. I suggest that might be good to replace the Champagne horse in the act. The Ringling "expert" who was with us was aghast, because it was not "white". Kahdir didn't like it because it translated ochen minoga piss, or "too much piss."LOL The Khazak horseman know more about color, then the learned expert, he just didn't have a fancy name for it in his language.LOL I do understand people using the pretend term "white lions". I just don't personally condone it.

OK, OK I'll even take the "piss white" one
Dianne,
I hope Fire Magic and his squeeze don't get confused because I have ordered Golden Palomino, along the lines of Trigger, and if they can't come through with that, buckskin with a golden sheen would suffice.
Wade
Wade, so they should be called the "piss white lions"? LOL You might have a hard time having the Philadelphia Zoo, the Toronto Zoo, the Cincinnati Zoo, the Toledo Zoo, the Capron Park Zoo, and the Secret Garden of Siegfried and Roy to put that on their exhibit signs. LOL And what about the other lions. Should we call them the "shitty lions"? LMAO
Mary Ann
I still will even take the "piss white" one
Mary Ann,
It is actually quite simple. Tigers and White Tigers. Lions and "Champagne Lions", with some being pisser then others?
Wade
