A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

The STL train was put in when Marlin Perkins returned about 1962. The Zoo didn't have the funds to build the train so it was operated as a private concession for the first two years. The Zoo then purchased the train (I think it is now owned by the Zoo Friends for some accounting reasons). For many years it was considered to be the most profitable mini-railroad in the country.
