An example of wrong terminology being used to describe something.

The term "forced collection" is used to describe the cause of the crests and odd muscling on the necks of these liberty stallions. The term "forced collection" is an oxymoron as you can not force collection. You can force a horse to do something, and you can collect a horse, but you can not force collection. It goes against what collection is. These were sent to me by a friend from across the water, as he wrongly assumed the best is from there. Again the best is individuals and not location. They are obviously aged horses, judging by their color and condition. I assume they have been used for different acts over the years and worked by a multitude of people, I am sure good ones and bad. I can assume they have become sour renegades as in addition to the standard side checks, they are wearing tie downs, and a crank or Swedish cavesson. With the exception of the tie down, used individually as a training aid is one thing, a combination of the 3 becomes a training substitute and can force a horse to do many things but collection is not one of them. The grey in the picture above, unless it is an aged brood mare with Cushings needed some brush time before it went into the ring. But the harness is sure pretty.
