Wade, the Toledo Zoo has African elephants, female Renee and her five-year-old bull calf Louie, named for an early elephant keeper. The levy passed so that they will be able to expand their elephant quarters, and have bull facilities for Louie.

Wade,
This Male, went back to the Pan-American Circus in 1908 and 1909, when he was bought by William P. Hall in Lancaster, Mo. he was known as "YORK". After leasing him out for a couple years he was sold to the Toledo Zoo in 1912. They changed his name to Babe. He died there at the Zoo in 1945.
