Pinky, the white Chimpanzee

If they come knocking at my door, Paul my patch will be that somebody sent this to me, which is true. I had never seen this photo before, and it so intrigued me, I'll take the chance. I would like you to fill us in. Was Pinky a Pygmy Chimp? I had never seen a photo with black on the forearms. It almost looks Piebald to me. The different colored eye are common in paint horses, Tobiano, and Overo, being more dominant in homozygous. The black on the head would be called Medicine hat, if Pinky was a horse. What was the conclusion of their findings, as to what caused the eyes, and spotting. Similar to the yellowish in Snowflake and White lions? Thank you

What stands out to me is the fact that the chimp on the right accepts his fellow being totally.

Pinkie was not a pygmy chimpanzee. She's dead now. She lived at a sanctuary in Sierra Leone and the owner refused to allow her to be studied to determine the exact cause of her unusual coloration or lack there of.

Paul,
That's interesting. Do you know why the owner of the sanctuary refused to allow her to be studied? Also, what of Clean Rauls claim that he saw 2 more?

Wade-The owner did'nt want Pinkie to be treated any differently from the other chimpanzees and refused to allow a blood sample to be taken for genetic analysis. I think he was motivated by love and respect for the animal.

Paul,
Not wanting her to be treated different, is a cockeyed reasoning. That's a shame.

Wade-I was actually thinking that all of the chimps would have to have blood samples taken for routine medical check ups, I would guess, especially on arrival. You would think supplying a little for study would not have hurt her. Also once she was already dead she could have been studied, but as far as I know she was'nt. I've never heard of any other white chimpanzees in zoos. I think there was one in the wild which became the basis of some sort of local religion.
