Amir Jamaal--Son of Ali Jamaal--Grandson of Ruminaja Ali

Every once in a life time you are given the opportunity to be a part of a magnificent animals life. Amir was one of those animals for me. To be given the honor not only to touch, but to breathe the same air as a creature of this greatness is indeed humbling.

Is everyone as sick as I am over the tragedy at today's Kentucky Derby?

Mary Ann,
They have been rethinking at what age they should train thoroughbreds to run. A number of years ago they used to put short 2 year olds under saddle in the quarter horse industry, and they started having tendon problems. After evaluating the bone/tendon maturity of these youngster, they started showing them on long line as 2 year olds, judging them on movement and conformation, and not saddling them until they were 3. Eliminated the majority of breakdown problems as they matured. I believe in Europe a Thoroughbred can't be run until they are 3, also. Live, learn, and study, that's the name of the game. Doesn't matter what they did 50 years ago.
