A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Wade the guy in picture number 2 seems to have your props, with tricks and no Guntha Bra??
Casey,
That's Billy Golden. With Sultan sitting, and Prince jumping. I had to wear those costumes for 2 years, until the Gunther ones were done. Are you saying that the sit up/jump over is a trick?
Wade Burck
As much a trick as the "Puppy Hitch-O-Doom" or the "Tiger Jump-O-Death From Behind"
I didnt realize Zych had ancestors working cats back in the day, the glasses were obviously handed down from generation to generation.
Some styles of eyewear are timeless. Always fashionable. Sadly the matching pens, pocket protectors, and slide rules are no longer available.
Ben
Ben and Casey,
That's what makes Zych great. His adaptability. Once the tools of the trade became unavailable, he jumped right into the field of Bovine subjugation, where he excels and set's new standards to this day.

I remember making the white Gunther Bra,and the Pleasure I got from making you try in on with all those pins sticking you....LOL
After recently hearing the story of how the Curator somehow managed to convince The Powers That Be to allow him to take his original CDL road test in a passenger car, I believe that he may be the slickest showman since the great Barnum. (That would be Zake Barnum, of We Tote The Note Used Motor Cars in Normal, IL, but it's still high praise.)
Ben
Ben,
Before we start singing his praises too much, google up Karel Zajicek. Most of Curators skills are hardwired genetically, and have nothing to do with learned behavior. When we talk about"Smithsonian quality exhibits", check out what Great Great Great Uncle Karel used to collect. Talk about the fruit not falling far.

Maragret,
You and Billy Strong can both go pound sand. The road to fame was not easy with somebody sabotaging you at every opportunity.
Wade Burck
Speaking of uncles,Wade are you sure your not related to Jim? I'd check it out if I were you,and watch out for falling fruit....LOL
Ben, Casey and Wade....Flattery will get you Guys no-where....My Blue Plaid Suit with Red Bow-tie from my Rolla-Bolla Days is NOT FOR SALE!!!! Get your own LOOK!.....The Curator
I don't want the suit Zych. I tried selling an official used whirly twirly bird from you and BJ's stand circa 1986, only won 3 bucks.....
Suit might bring 15, hardly worth the shipping.
Now if you got some Behn's Game Farm Novelties I will pay top dollar.
Casey...Fine! The suits goin to the Smithsonian!..I might have 1-2 Behn Game Farm postcards..I'll maybe trade for Uncle Oz's...Lil' Black Book......The Curator
Casey and Z,
I have heard Behn's Game Farm described as a "dangerous, dangerous, outfit". In the Red Lake Gazette, Wilber was quoted, "the wonderful thing about Jim, is he never forgot his roots even when he became an international circus unycicle hyewire artest. He's one of those rare guys who started at the bottom, and liked it so well, the just stayed there".

Wilbert Behn Aniwa WI passed away on March 29th 2011. Some called him the oldest living Lion Tamer. He will be sadly missed.
Candy,
My condolences. No disrespect to Wilber's memory, but "some" can call him anything they want, but he surly wasn't a lion tamer/trainer, old or otherwise.
Wade
Candy,
Thanks for the info. I will surely always remember the summer I spent at Behn's Animal Farm in the 80's. He was one of the most colorful characters I have ever met to date. I vividly remember him sowing his own ear back on after a cat pulled it half off. He truly was a dagerous outfit!
PS. Never mind Wade's cynicism...
