These responses are insanity, with respect. It doesn't make our world look to sane.

This seems to be an example of the influence of the animal extremists. These performers probably have no first hand knowledge of rodeos. But they have formed an opinion based on misinformation. Now the bands’ action gives more press to the animal extremists with no mention of an opposing view.

Don Bloomer,
I agree with you 100% about an opinion based on misinformation, and having no first hand information. That's pretty radical and extreme.

Wade Burck

Whoops sorry Don. I don't agree with you 100%. I just saw these posts. I didn't know what extremists you were talking about the circus ones or the animal ones.

Buckles,
Point well taken! I will refrain from jumping to conclusions!

That's SO weird.

I was recently booked to perform a rodeo at a Matchbox 20 concert but later backed out when I learned that Matchbox 20 sucks.

In a statement I was quoted as saying "I ask that [fans] please understand that it would be impossible for me to put myself and my animals in a position of making money from what we believe to be really sucky music."

Matchbox 20 really do suck,

MY response is insanity?

Have you ever actually listened to Matchbox 20?!?

I wouldn't care if they were pro-circus, pro-clown and/or pro-Pat Cashin on a most ultra-fanatical level.

Their music is vapid dreck, regardless of their personal or professional ideology.

Simply put, they suck.

I don't care what Matchbox 20 thinks about animal rights for the same reason that I don't care what the Cowsills think about NAFTA or Katrina and the Waves think about nuclear proliferation treaties.

I don't care.

I don't care because they suck.

The media never comes to Wade Burck to ask him what he thinks about the state of the American music industry so why is he so interested in lending credence to the valueless opinions of unimaginative, uninspiring, uninteresting "musicians" when it comes to animal welfare?

My response to any mention of Matchbox 20 should be more "measured" and "professional" so as to better reflect upon the circus world?

Why bother? They suck.

I'd be more "measured" and "professional" in my response to the guy at the supermarket who rounds up the carts when he tells me that it's a "nice day, huh?" You know why? Because unlike Matchbox 20 the guy rounding up carts (and his opinion) deserves my attention and respect because he's actually GOOD at what he does and has displayed some level of achievement in his chosen field.

Matchbox 20 is certainly welcome to take (or refuse) any gig they like based on whatever whim strikes their fancy... but I don't have to care.

And I don't.

They suck.

And it's far from insane to say so.

Pat,
No, I have never heard of them. That may have been one of the posts that didn't get by.
Of course the media never comes to me to ask me what I think, and I don't add credence to their radical views, by giving a radical response, but did you not how many of our "learned" colleagues offered advise to the music industry? I love bronc riding, bull riding, bulldogging, but I frown on calf roping. That doesn't make me anything but someone interested in the welfare of animals because I understand the difference. I don't like many things I have seen occur in the circus in regards to animals, doesn't make me anything but somebody interested in the welfare of animals because I understand them. When the extremists are 100% wrong I will debate them, but they aren't. They are about 50/50.
I assume because the check out boy is just saying "have it nice day" you would respond differently.
Throwing shit back, as well as pictures of someone giving the finger is the same as getting naked and getting in a cage, or throwing dye on a fur coat. It reflexs bad on their beliefs and their agenda, as well as these kinds of responses reflect bad on us and our agenda. And it is a stereotype that I am not comfortable with. Better you go after John Herriotts statement of not hiring someone who wearss a cowboy hat. If we had come out of the 19th century, we could have had a handle on this thing long ago. Just as the rodeo has done. Let's see if they give a radical, extreme response, and it is their war. Let's pattern ourselves after what they say. From where I sit, it seems to be working admirably, plus the cowboys are making a good living.

Damn Pat,
Wound kinda tight? Did you end up in a dry county somehow? Somehow locked in a room with Bruce the Destroyer?

I agree, Matchbox 20 sucks musically speaking. I also assume that them boycotting a rodeo is just a last ditch effort to drum up some press.

But I gotta tell ya Pat....
No guy who opens for the "Village People" should be quoted saying this ..... "I'd be more "measured" and "professional" in my response to the guy at the supermarket who rounds up the carts when he tells me that it's a "nice day, huh?" You know why? Because unlike Matchbox 20 the guy rounding up carts (and his opinion) deserves my attention and respect because he's actually GOOD at what he does and has displayed some level of achievement in his chosen field."

Cause, well, THEY SUCKED EVEN MORE!!

Hope all is well

What is Sidewalk Angels Foundation?

Established by Rob and Marisol Thomas, Sidewalk Angels Foundation is a New York-based non-profit organization that works hand-in-hand with charities in and around America's big cities. Life in the city can be so fast that those in need are often passed by. People who are destitute or homeless and get lost in the system; those who cannot afford proper medical care; animals that have been abandoned or abused -- these are universal problems that Sidewalk Angels encourages people to address locally.

Not that I agree with them canceling the concert, but we do live in America, the land of the free.I assume that means everyone, even Matchbox Twenty. And as for their music sucking,I don't think everyone agrees with that statement,as they sold out MSG....
