This is current events, so lay off me Casey. Eric was watching the Olympic torch fiasco on the news and mentioned did I do something with a torch once. So I dug this out of the cigar box I am packing for my European trip. In 1984 I was asked to carry the Olympic torch as part of the Across America publicity. It was a neat deal and we were in North Carolina someplace. The torch started in Los Angles and was handed to various people to "run" part of the route. The "runner" handed it to me just before opening at the back door. I jumped up and stood on Axels elephant, and opening started, and I carried it around the coliseum, out the back door, and handed it to the next "runner" and never saw it again. I am grateful to the press department for having the foresight to take this photo of Adam, Eric and I.

My God were you hiding all that in your wranglers?
Madame Col.
Why did you think I had trouble getting as "deep" in the saddle as you wanted me to? You try stuffing 5 lbs. of garbage in a 1 lb. bag.
Wade
THAT IS SO COOL!!! Talk about a once in a lifetime moment!
Bud
Bud,
What. The Torch? Or the Madame Col. trying to jamb my junk into the Stubben? LOL
LOL
LOL, I was referring to the torch! I believe you were riding in the Bates. Be glad you weren't riding in the Keifer, it has a smaller seat.
5 lbs of garbage in a 1 lb bag....LMAO.
Wade.
You were part of history, and I'm sure that amid all the joshing you're more than a tad proud of it - as you should be.
When I was still at school, rumour had it that one of our teachers had been an Olympic Torch carrier for the 1948 Games in London. He didn't seem old enough - and you know that teachers always appear to be OLD!
In due course, I became a teacher. One of my colleagues was a judge for the gymnastics at the 1984 Games in Los Angeles. So we'd watch the telecasts and go "Look! There's Ron!" It was quite sad really.
John.
