Eric my second son standing down by Liz has given the circus more time then his brother , Taylor. He is now enrolled at Kendall University where he is studying to be a chef. Invaluable to me with the elephants. Eric could have possibly been one of the best had a chose a career with elephants. He has had an uncanny understanding of them since he was 5. I am happy he has chosen to be Emeril. From left to right, Lottie, Minnie, Queenie, Joy, Gypsy, Rhoni, Debbie, Liz, and Eric I posted this picture for a duo purpose. To let you see Queenie, the second elephant, and to also show Jeannie my wranglers.

This is the son I can relate to. How long did he work this group? What is his skill level? By no means am I trying to be disrespectful - just curious.
Ryan,
Almost three years. I understand you are not trying to be disrespectful, but what do you mean by "skill level". There has never been a measure of that or a standard set in this business. Have you not seen the fights on Buckles Blog each time I try to address that. Is he Axel, Gunther, Joe Frisco, Gary Johnson, Gary Jacobson? No. Could he compete with most others? Yes, very well. Could he be like the others some day? Yes, if he wanted to bad enough.
Best wishes,
Wade

Thank you Wade. I do understand what you are saying. Most vividly I remember your question regarding Smokey and Rex - sadly, it was never answered though. My thoughts are just to admire them for who they were, and learn all we can to give the best care possible the greatest show seen! Does your son have any pictures of their barn/yard/winter quarters? These aren't seen very often as opposed to zoo exhibits. I have seen some pictures of Morgan Berry's barn in the Northwest, and never is there an old barn without an "elephant-sized" hole in it.
