A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

I do like the "expanded" ring area. Seems it gives them room to be seen better.
Wade.. what's the command to get the 3rd elephant up?? "Up"??
Or did she come down as soon as Flavio turned around?? (smile)
klsdad,
Circo Americano used the "expanded" ring quite some time before Ringling "innovated" it. We didn't hear much about it, because I don't recall the European fans gagging and puking when the ring was removed. It opens up a whole lot of possibility's for doing different acts with the elephants and mounted horses, not necessarily to be seen better.
The command was probably either aufzug or nach oben, as I believe the Togni elephants were trained in German. I suggest the elephant came down exactly when she was supposed to, as I believe she is the first one out, to lead the next behavior.
