This is a first. I have never seen a draw rein used with a pelham before. Fortunately the curb chain is loose.

A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.
This is a first. I have never seen a draw rein used with a pelham before. Fortunately the curb chain is loose.

God protects those that have no clue. A lot could be said for the temperament of that horse to take that. Sends shutters to my toes.
Dianne,
Note the age of the horse. It has probably seen a lot, and draw reins, even attached to the girth are probably the least of what he has seen. As a rule, you don't try to get an Arabian Western Pleasure headset on your "high school" horse. LOL
