A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

I'm guessing that these shots were taken at the circus building in Budapest, which we saw the other day.
Hans-Ludwig Suppmeier will be at Cirque d'Hiver in Paris for the winter season, presenting a Togni tiger act.
Changing subject - and with the permission of The Great Burck - I siad I'd tell you all why I was going to be in Theater Carre in Amsterdam. The reason was to see The Great Flying Circus of North Korea. The first time a full Korean circus presentation has visited western Europe. Very enjoyable, if nothing that gave me a WOW - but I've seen a LOT of circus in my time, and I have a reasonably good memory.
It's relevant that the first circus I saw outside of my native Britain was The Moscow State Circus (under the old regime) at Carre in 1983, a significant 25 years ago.
During my visit last week, I saw Circus Herman Renz as well. As I have mentioned elsewhere in these pages, Adriana Folco presents her father's horses, her elephant Baby, and rides double high school with Michel Jarz. The other animal content is the lion number of Knut and Yvonne Muderack. Again, a good show with no WOWs.
I will say that this is the show with an act along the lines of those of Layra Miller and Irina Bouglione - that I anticipated would not be working when I saw the show, my luck being what it is! I was right!!! The tank broke the day before!! But the artiste was working. She has several acts to offer and presented her foot-juggling.
John.
