Circo Atayde(Aguilar) Hermanos

Entrance between the concession/hospitality tent and performance tent. The "back door" leading to the tiger tent is also covered. If it rains, no need to get wet until you run to the street to catch a cab to the hotel.

Concession/hospitality tent between the marquee and performance tent and "garbage joints"

Reserved reclining seats, which have custom covers and are covered after every performance, and uncovered when doors are opened. They are so comfortable I have only sat in them twice between shows, and fell asleep both times.

  6. Steve,
Of course a hotel. Where else, the mission? The Aguilar's don't want their Entrenador de Animales to have to live with just folks. Geez....

  7. Dave,
Come on, we'll look forward to it. There is a sense of pride on the show that is contagious indeed. When we arrived the lot was dusty and barren, so the brought in a number of dump trucks with red pea gravel to cover the lot to keep down dust and to give it a prettier look, plus enough chrome and stainless steel to choke a horse.

  8. So just where exactly are you in Mexico? I'd like to try and get down to see you one day, been a long time...

  9. Wow, Wade, sure looks like an awesome show. I couldn't believe all the stainless steel ornate animal fencing, and the program looks amazing. They must pull in a good crowd to cover the expenses of a show like that. I was wondering, how is the hay, feed and meat supply? I don't think of Mexico as a good hay growing region, but since so much of our produce is grown there, perhaps I'm wrong. Any thoughts about staying with the show once the act is trained?

  10. Ian,
Actually box office has been down, but the drug business is way up, so that helps make the nut. LOL The show it's self is weak, as they have found the people want animals and pretty girls and that is what they feature. As they don't have Harry Kingston and the Circus Fans of Mexico telling them how to run the show, they can do what they feel is best based on the past. Relax, dowhitetigers, I am kidding. :) They take no time off for "winterquarters" as the owner Pancho Aguilar feels if you stop, you only lose money and everybody get's lazy so they go year round. They paint trucks, equip, etc. after the show in the evenings. All the dates are 4 weeks long but that is "tentative." If it looks like it is going to be slow after the first week, they advertise "only one more week left, last chance" and that usually fills it up, as the folks think the show is leaving. If they do well for the remaining two weeks, they will leave anyway so the dates are normally only 3 weeks instead of 4. Most of the time they don't know where they are going next, until the day before they leave. The hay is great, often being brought freshly cut in stacks instead of bales. In that case it is spread out in the tent to "cure" for a few day's before being fed. The tigers are fed whole chickens and it is brought daily packed in ice. For training meat(which they had never heard of, until I came here 3 years ago) it is just a matter of going to the grocery store and getting what I will need for that day. Initially the tiger superintendent would buy 8 packs of steaks, until he found out he had to cut it into ice cube sized pieces, so now he gets 10 packs of chunked stew meat. LOL
What reason would I have for staying anyplace once the animals are trained? Unless there are new students on the way, you would only be working at a pet shop.

  11. Catman,
The show will be playing in suburbs surrounding Mexico City for the next 5 months. Exact location, no one knows until the day you move out.
