This is incredible. Is that pickup all that is required to haul the giraffes? Is the transport trailer moved down the road with the open sides or is their a cover? Do the giraffes have to be restrained during movement or are they free ranging in the trailer during the jump?
Radar,
Yes, the one ton is all that is required to haul the giraffe. Normally the sides are left open, except in the rare instance of extreme cold. You will note what are called "coca cola doors" which are pulled down. Also the small doors at the bottom of the transport, are dropped down for cleaning if necessary. Free ranging is when a chicken is turned loose from the chicken coop and allowed to forage anyplace it chooses. An animal in a trailer or pen is not free ranging even if it is not tied. Such is the case with the giraffe who haul loose in two compartments. The bull in the front one and the three cow's in the larger back one.

Incredible indeed there arn't that many shows that carry 4 giraffes with them, Wade do you know if they are tryning to breed them?
Bjorn
Bjorn,
They all ready have bred them. The youngest female is a daughter of the bull and one of the females. And is that bull tough and smart. I have seen him lower his head for a "cookie" and twice "slug" the grooms across the legs and send them flying. LOL
