A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Any Idea's Who's Elephants These Are? Smart? Chipperfield?
A British Overseas Airways Corporation flight from Bangkok upon its arrival at London Airport. Date 1952
These were the 5 baby elephants arriving at London airport in 1951. They joined Billy Smart's elephant, Birma. I believe they were then billed as "The Flying Elephants." The Guv'nor, Billy Smart can be seen in the clip inspecting the arrivals.
This begs the question. Just when did elephants first fly across the Atlantic to America. I assume they did so before flying across the Pacific. Does anyone know? I'd guess the early 1950s.
