A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.
Were his tusks both cracked at the location prompting the bands? Or was that an area he commonly eroded on a wall, gate, etc, necessitating their application to prevent damage?
Radar, I don't know about cracks or eroded(isn't that usually caused by wind, sand, or water) or rubbed. But that placement is normally where you would put bands, if you intended to hobble him with his head to his feet or to floor rings or a martingale or a running W. Wade
