After many many months of asking Mr. Woodcock by email, why did you delete that thread, or why did you delete a comment, why do you let anonymous people post with negative remarks that make others look bad, his eventual explanation was the definition of "fetching" and "unseemly" being the deciding factor on what is posted and what is deleted. That soon became very muddy, and the question of how can you decide what is circus history and what is not was meet with silence. The response from many people of "why don't you start your own blog, with no censorship if you don't like it led to CircusNoSpin. The justification "that he can do what he wants, its his blog" didn't sit to well with me. I see it also doesn't sit to well with Mr. Woodcock. This was pulled of his blog today. I suggest he start his own TV network, it's a solution.
ASPCA DEMANDS CANCELLATION OF TV’S GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH
The ASPCA has urged Turner Network Television (TNT) to immediately cancel Greatest Show on Earth, its upcoming series that touts a “behind-the-scenes” look at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Unfortunately, the real behind-the-scenes story is one of unrelenting cruelty to animals: the abuse of Ringling Bros. circus elephants has been exhaustively documented by animal welfare organizations, state humane agencies and U.S. Department of Agriculture inspectors. The ASPCA—currently involved in a lawsuit against the circus for violations of the federal Endangered Species Act and the Animal Welfare Act—urges all those who care about animals to speak out against TNT’s new show.
In a March 19 letter to Turner Network’s president Steve Koonin, ASPCA President & CEO Ed Sayres wrote, “To entertain the unsuspecting public at the expense of the welfare of these noble animals goes against all tenets of humanity and our responsibility to protect the animals with whom we share the earth. TNT’s viewers should certainly not be subjected to such hypocritical and unethical programming.”
Compassionate people may speak out against Greatest Show on Earth by emailing its producers, Mark Wolper and Al Hassas, at kathleen.doise@wbtvprod.com and al@thecollective-la.com, respectively. TNT president Steve Koonin can be contacted at anne.smith@turner.com. Letters may be sent to: Steve Koonin, President, Turner Network Television, 1010 Techwood Dr. NW, Atlanta, GA 30318

I SUPPOSE PEOPLE WITH AN OPPOSING VIEW COULD VOICE THEIR OPINIONS AS WELL!"

Hmmm. Apples and oranges maybe. While I agree entirely with your sentiments on censorship... on the internet the option of creating your own blog is viable and inexpensive. Television, even cable channels operate in the public interest to the extent that few individuals can afford to create a channel, or to produce original programming for television.
Just an opinion...
Above and beyond, this particular content issue is bigger than any one blog. If Turner caves in on circus, the next cable channel will cave in on rodeo, and pretty soon the only thing left will be dog shows.
Ben
Ben,
Don't get Casey all excited about the dog show deal just yet. LOL
Just a townies opinion....
The hypocrisies caught up to us after a long history of doing what we wanted. God knows nobody wants to be regulated, but sometimes it is a necessity Ben.
Hypocrisies Ben. How about calling them "radicals" and "extremists", and then responding with an intelligent "rational" statement like this one that I borrowed off of Buckles Blog:

Not just Australia Ben. That's how we respond all over the world. Incredible as it sure says something. Two responses to the thread, and it went silent. How many people do you think all of a sudden found a shoe that fit?
Look at the responses to elephant trunks that I moved over here, as they kept hiding/avoiding on the other site which is loaded with experts. Many may not want to answer, and everybody can look the other way, but nobody can ever say again that they did not know.
How about this "ultimate hypocracy". A couple of years ago, I was approached by an animal activist organization, with this report about a colleague, and asked for my thoughts. I didn't know what to say Ben, and maybe you can suggest a response.
They had dozens of interview quotes from this person. "The animals are my family" and "the animals are like my children" and "we have a mutual love" They had statements from articles like "they dug their feet into the rug(formerly Shar the circus tiger, until arthritis got the better of him) and speaks of their perilous employment. They had quotes from this persons ex lovers saying they were given tiger claw necklaces as gifts. Does this sound like any mother or father that you know Ben? They had quotes from this person, "I have 3 fur coats that I never wear because I don't want to give the crazy activist the wrong idea of my profession." And they had quotes from people in this industry, saying "they take the best care of the animals" "they sent the standard for love and concern". We are an isolated industry Ben that invites the public in. After many many years, and 1000's of interview by 1000's of artists, how long was it before somebody went, "wait a minute". Hell yes, I wish they would have gone after individuals, but they didn't they went after an industry and us all. That's why we watch the PBR and the NFR on tv Ben. Are you suggesting we are the biggest and most powerful, and we are being martyred so that the others will fall easily?
My grand father used to have a saying. "If that dog would quite spinning in a circle and looking for that smell, and stood still, he would realize that smell is coming from his own behind. We were wrong in not isolating individuals like the aforementioned individual, cutting them out like a cancer. But we didn't, we looked away, we denied, and they drug us all down. We got stereotyped Ben. How are we going to change that stereotype Ben, if it is not to late. By name calling, and threats of death?

Wade
Wade, much as I like Mr Perry, his comment is pretty typical of the the kind of language that's generally unsuccessful in addressing activists. If punching them really worked, circus would have won a long time ago...lol
Ben,
I only know Mr. Perry by reputation, which is very respected. I was suggesting that "all" of us act accordingly. Do you realize how many "jackpot" sessions have been repeated to the wrong people? I think a lot would be surprised?
Wade Burck.
