A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Woodland Park Zoo--"Thailand Trek" 1986
Remember when "logging camps" and "logging demonstration's became all the rage in the zoo world, as a response to the elephant's doing degrading circus acts and tricks?
Do you have any more info on this photo or these Thai-themed elephant rides at WPZ? I haven't been able to find much about this, only a reference to the idea being rejected by zoo staff, supposedly before it was ever begun.
