A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Vintage Woodland Park Zoo--Bamboo Revisted 1967
Baby Elephant Frisks A Zoo Visitor
While innocently searching for a peanut or some other goodie, Bamboo, the Woodland baby elephant, alienated a potential patron yesterday. Victor Rosellini, left, restaurateur, had just presented a $500 check to Gil Chandler, president of the Seattle Zoological Society, when Bamboo "frisked" the unidentified boy. Rosellini; Chandler, holding the check, and Barbara Berry, the elephant's handler, watched the byplay in amusement. The check is the first major contribution toward a $20,000 home and pool for baby elephants at the children's Zoo. The society bought Bamboo from Miss Berry's father, Morgan Berry, who owns an animal farm near Woodland, Cowlitz County.
