A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Trevor Bale--Clyde Bros. Shrine Circus Bayfront Center, Tampa 1968
Gary, I had the pleasure of getting to know the Col. quite well towards the end of his life. Quite a man, and full of stories of the "old days" on an English circus, peppered with quaint phrases, like "jolly jump off" to describe an amateur who wasn't very good at what they did and just played around at it. I played 4 games of chess with him, which he loved. Lost all 4. Whipped soundly, actually.
I sure enjoyed getting to know the Colonel at Circus World..he was a heck of a chess player...
