A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Brookfield Zoo Mountain Goat??/Monkey Island 1940
Those aren't mountain goats are they, Jim? Zoological accuracy was sure not the order of the day, back in the day.
I think they always had aoudads (Barbary sheep) with the baboons until the 1970s. Forest baboons with north African mountain sheep, hey, they're both from Africa.
Megan, Welcome to my world. There is nothing I find of more interest then the history of captive animal husbandry/exhibit. Go back into the archives/manure pile of circusnospin and you will find a boat load of photographic history, plus comments from some very learned, knowledgeable individuals and historians of the zoo industry. Plus a few comments from nitwits and morons. :) The "manure pile" is linked on the right hand side of the blog.
