A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

London Zoo Staff Treating Elephant--1874
Jenny the elephant suffered from a paralyzed trunk and arthritis and died in 1875. In the past I have noted that a paralyzed trunk tends to run in pin/small headed elephants, with exceptions. Note Jenny's head structure. Although we should view any drawing/lithograph with suspicion, note also the condition of her toe nails. It might indicate she was a bit on the "tough " side.
