A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

The Graphic--1909
One of the most amazing things about falconry is that the methods of training and the equipment used has remained virtually unchanged for centuries in almost every country in the world, with the exception of materials now day's are often synthetic instead of traditional leather. The major change has been the breeding in captivity of raptors instead of the tradition of taking eyas and branchers from the wild, or trapping adult birds with "pigeon decoy's."

In the link above, click on gallery and take a look at this breeding facility in Germany. Awful impressive, and commendable for a private individual.
Raptor Breeders
How many of you "animal folks" can recall when the big new's of the day was the successful breeding and hatching of a clutch of Peregrine chicks? Now it is hardly noted, if at all. Much like the birth of a baby elephant.
