Vintage Central Park Elephant Keeper Grandstanding--1910

Note the condition of Hattie's skin. Not surprising when you see the "barn" behind her with old hay spilling out the door. Heat for warmth, with new bedding piled on old old bedding , with no humidity of any kind, and inadequate ventilation will wreck havoc on an elephants skin.

  1. Wade,
We are going to be in New York on Monday. Would you advise a trip to the Central Park Zoo or Bronx Zoo instead? Which is worth the better visit if the elephants are not available for viewing in Bronx?

  2. Radar,
The Bronx, without a doubt. You haven't seen a zoo exhibit until you have seen their Tropic World. The World of Birds as well as the Congo Gorilla Forest are also superior to most. Add to that the incredible historic buildings and structures, and it is a guaranteed chubby. If you have the time, Central Park is worth a visit, but if you have to chose, go Bronx. I am sure you will find as I have, that elephants are unnecessary at the Bronx.
