A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Vintage Memphis Zoo--Random Pages from a 1908 Guide Book
Note Carl Hagenbeck's address given as the "Cincinnati Zoo" which acted as a holding area as well as a US agent for Hagenbeck. Also the name "Trader Horn Zoological Arena" in Denver, Colo. "Trader Horn was a big animal deal back in the day, who later moved his operation to Kansas City, Mo. He apparently was quite a shifty character(few animal dealers weren't back in the day) and depending on who is telling the tale, either destroyed Jungle Land/Thousand Oaks which he had renamed World Jungle Compound, or shut down a dead horse that just hadn't fallen over yet.
