A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Billy Rose's Jumbo
Does anyone know who this is, doing the stunt work? Those are Pat Anthony's cat's in the arena, but no way would Pat wear those candy tights. LOL
I believe the first picture still is from the 1956 film "Trapeze" which was shot at the Cirque d'Hiver in Paris. There has just been an argument in the movie, resulting in Burt Lancaster pushing Gerard Landry against the tunnel section allowing the lion to escape. Mr Bouglione (played by Thomas Gomez)appears on the scene and herds the lion back into the cage. I assume therefore that it was one of the younger Bougliones in this shot. Firmin Bouglione Snr doubles for Gomez in the reccapture shots.
