Political Parade

The above photo was from a Women's Suffrage parade ralley where "campaigners felt that men and women should be equal in every way and that there was no such thing as a woman's 'natural role'." Note a beautiful women in a flowing white gown, riding not leading a white horse, which is led not ridden by a man. I wonder what the point was?
