A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Zoological Gardens--The Graphic--1892
The Graphic, also published in England, offers some great wood engravings of the zoo. It was started to compete with The Illustrated London News.
Mary Ann, This one sure wasn't bad, compared to some. They were housed like this because they felt it was what was necessary for the animals. No harm intended. If they didn't care, it would indeed be a travesty. But they learned, experimented, to reach today. And they will continue to learn, but there won't be as much experimentation given the knowledge that has been gained. Wade
