A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Motordrome Lion
I have never seen one of these live as they stopped them years ago, but they never, ever made sense to me. I think just another "no reason what so ever" use of an animal.
I saw one of these motodrome with lions things at Atlanta's Southeadstern Fair in Lakewood Park around 1939.
Given my young age I don't recall much except that it made a heck of a racket as the motorcycles roared around. Sort of a Globe of Death thing without the globe.
Wade, I agree. This is cruel and absurd, and I too am glad that this was stopped.

Mary Ann,
ReplyDeleteThere wasn't much cruel about it, but it sure was an absurd use of an animal.
