Does anybody know which Sea World this is? I was not aware of any False Killer Whales being trained. They could best be described as a "novelty" because I fell they lack the "charisma" of a Killer Whale. The one below looks like it is getting some sweet air, which is unusual as they don't look like they have the strength/power of an Orca. Unless by shooting from up high in the photo it gives the illusion of height as the photo of the Zapashny lion being ridden across a jump is shot from down low, giving the impression of distance.

I saw false killer whales in the dolphin act at Sea World Orlando in summer of 2007.
ReplyDeleteRJR,
ReplyDeleteThat is possibly where these photo's are from, and it would make more sense that they are part of the dolphin show. I just couldn't see them replacing the spectacle of the Killer Whales.

They are from Seaworld Orlando I visited a year ago, they work in the Dolphin show Blue horizons.

Sorry about that Wade, I forgot to mention they are at Sea World Orlando. They have at least two of these animals.
ReplyDeleteThey had 4 false killerwhales but one of them died they have now 3 but just 2 in the show.
ReplyDeleteWade,
ReplyDeleteI/m surprised to hear that. I remembering visiting Sea World at least 15 years ago and they definitely had pseudorcas (false killer whales) in their dolphin show. From an earlier visit I also remember seeing beluga whales mixed in. I remember this because I found the false killer whales fascinating, and I never read about them before this.
