The Government of Catalunya (Spain) announced in Barcelona that Paulina Schumann will be the recipient of the 2008 National Award of Culture, "for her outsanding career achievement as dancer, acrobat, animal trainer, high school rider" and for becoming a "circus icon of 20th century". While I am not suggesting that Ms. Schumann is not deserving of the honor, I wonder if a requirement to received said honor is that you have to resided in Spain?
A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Possibly, but I would suggest that it's relevant that her father was Charlie Rivel, who was born in Spain.
