A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Lu Lu Gautier--famed horsman--father of well known Ringling Bros. Elephant Trainer, Axel Gautier
I thank Laszlo for this picture. I had only seen one picture of Lu Lu that my dear friend Axel had. It showed Lu Lu doing a Spanish Walk on a beautiful Palomino horse. Axel Gautier was killed in 1993.
Thye great legendary Perf. Director, Pat Valdo told me years ago that Mr. Gautier was the finest horse trainer he had ever encountered in all his years with GSOE.
Col., Where the hell have you been? I have been worried. You and Bill Strong have to quit pulling that crap. Do I take your statement to mean that Lu Lu Gautier was with Ringling at some point. I didn't realize that. Wade
While with Ringling he w3as diagnosed with cancer. He returned home, passed away and left his wife Edith, daughter Ingibord and son Axel. Ingebord would marry Trolle Rhodin. Edith would marry Hungarian circus man Count Beketow and they along with son Ale3x would contract with American circus Mills Bros. and would get reacquainted with old friend Hugo Schmidt and when he returned to take over the Ringling herd he would take young Axel with him and the rest nis history. Axel would take care of his motgher and stepfather here in Sarasota and believe they are both buried here.
