Submitted by Mary Ann Howell. Beautiful pictures, thank you Mary AnnThe earthquake was right in the area where giant pandas live. Most pandas are well
protected, especially the babies, even though they may be scared. Right after the
earthquake, workers gathered as many babies as they could and brought them to the
panda compound where they were fed and cared for.
Wade, these were sent to me by a friend at my favorite zoo. I think that it's great that they were able to save almost all of them. I heard that one mother panda was crushed to death in her enclosure, and that five security guards were killed, which is a tragedy. Does anyone know anything else?
