Assorted elephant pictures # 3----4/06/08

Below is the first post of the day in reference to the "paralyzed trunk/beak" and "prolapse/rupture" issue raised on Buckles Blog. No sign of Johnny Herriott yet, who first raised the issue. Odd as Mr. Herriott is usually quite opinionated and he started the discussion.

I remember quite a few of the Billy Smart elephants that Hugo handed over to Buckles having the trunk problem. Monja, Tagu, Mudo,Joan, Christine but Rebecca and Zina were fine back then?

Here is my response, if it gets through to Gary and Joey,

Gary Hill and Joey,
Note that this tread started with a reference to the trunks of elephants from Bertram Mills circus, and now two references to elephants from Billy Smarts circus. Both circus's from England. Just an odd coincidence? Any English elephant trainers out there with thoughts?
Gary, did you ever hear any reasons why the elephants you mention had trunk problems? Have you ever seen any "prolapses" that Jim Z pointed out?
Joey, any thoughts on the trunk issue, or the "prolapse" in question?
Regards friends,
Wade Burck

Heres a SUPRISE!!!! It didn't post.
Now like Joey, Don, and Dan, Gary will not be able to give us his thoughts/ideas. And he worked for the Captain for quite some time. I would have thought his insight would have been encouraged.

Sorry Wade, I missed this comment? I understood from some source that I can't remember, said that over in England they didn't use bullhooks but instead sticks with points like nails of some kind?

Gary,
Of course you missed it. That is the purpose of censorship, and writing history as you want.
I have never heard that before about the different hook/prods. I have always seen a regular hook. I truly feel hooks are like spurs, great aids or vicious weapons. Depends on who is using them.
