A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Ghost Zoo--Jungle Land, Thousand Oaks, Calif.
Chucko the Birthday Clown. 1965
Photo's above and below. 1965 I have never seen a "pony ride" in which the animals walk in a trench like in the photo above. Does anyone else know of this method being used?
Chucko, Welcome. I said "trench" not trough. How old were these kids? I ask, because I could not cinch a saddle up tight until I was 8 years old, and there is not much "safety" involved in being harnessed to a pony or donkey. I sure would appreciate it if you would care to share any "Jungle Land" stories with us, in particular some of the fine animal trainers that worked there.
THE TROUGH,AS YOU CALL IT WAS THE LOADING AREA WHERE THE KIDS COULD SADDLE UP BY THEMSELVES AND THE BE SAFETY HARNESSED IN...RCR
