When folks discuss the merits of production numbers and their value in the big picture, I think they would be advised to look at what the greatest in Germany has managed to maintain.

these photos should embarass producers who don't want to spend money on making a good show better. showgirls have never been paid a lot of money and if a show can't afford 11 elephants or a big cat act, four to six dancers would be relatively cheap in comparison. and good theatrical costumers have always known how to stretch pennies into dollars. look at the costumes in community theater productions of "42nd St"
