A Blog designed for discussion of topics related to, but not limited to, Circus, Zoos, Animal Training, and Animal Welfare/Husbandry. Sometimes opening up the dialog is the best starting point of all. And if for nothing else when people who agree and don't agree, get together and start discussing it, it will open up a lot of peoples minds. Debate and discussion even amongst themselves opens a window where there wasn't one before.

Maude Gypsy Gruss
I would sure love to see something like this on a show like Solei. With they need for proper footing, I don't know if it is possible. If the alternative is animals slip/sliding and leaning/pushing each other for balance I don't want to see it.
Maude is the daughter of Alexis Gruss and his wife, Gypsy (nee Bouglione). She rides La Poste a Dix-sept. In other words, at the end of the act, she has 17 horses under her control, including the pair on which she is standing. her father (who keeps up the horses) all but disappears under the ribbons.
The act has been missing from the Gruss show for 2 seasons, so I would hope it'll be included this winter. By the way, contrary to what I said a while back, the season starts on 8 November, and runs until 8 March.
